Perfumer Vincent Ricord introduces his olfactory creation “19h50 En coulisses”
“Backstage, be ready”. Discover “19:50 En coulisses” our home fragrance through the eyes of the Perfumer Vincent Ricord.
What is the olfactory family of this fragrance?
“19h50 En coulisses” is fruity and leathery, generous but there is also this sparkle of energy behind it that makes it addictive and energetic. However, we also have this sensual side of it with the copper note.
What does this perfume remind you of?
I personally think that there is something quite intangible about this fragrance, and the goal was to try to translate into a scent this moment that comes out of the blue, where we find ourselves a courage that we never thought we had.
What are its notes?
The formula bases itself around a few ingredients and to be able to translate the composition I’ll start with the violet notes. The violet was a perfect match to this fragrance: it has the power to bring a spontaneous punch but go also well with leather, giving this indomitable but reassuring scent. Add to this a tad bit of ink smell and I think of it as the ink that could have been used for warrior tattoos to brave yourself and terrify your opponents.
What makes this fragrance unique?
“19h50 En coulisses” is unique, because first it might be my favorite. Every D’ORSAY fragrance represents a stolen instant, like a translation of a specific moment just like a polaroid picture would. You try to seize this moment, and before you know it, it is already behind you. You cannot touch it nor attain it; this intangible side makes it unique.”
In which context do you recommend to use it?
I think it is up to every single one of us to find its perfect use of this fragrance. For me, I think I should have burned the candle “19h50 En coulisses” before this interview to be even more confident.
